Collaboration and innovation shines at 2019 UDIA QLD Awards

investLogan CEO Todd Rohl was thrilled to be a judge of this year’s Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Queensland Mitchell Brandtman Awards for Excellence.

Now in its 25th year, the Awards were presented over a long lunch at Brisbane City Hall on Friday 1 November.

Mr Rohl, who judged the Affordable Small Scale, Master Planned Development and Wildcard categories, said the afternoon recognised the incredible achievements of the development industry and showcased a range of high calibre projects.

“Outstanding examples of collaboration between the development industry, government and non-for-profit sectors was a common theme among submissions,” Mr Rohl said.

“The variety of development products and innovative housing models that were showcased demonstrated the breadth of choice available to the discerning buyer.”

“Developments that also provided pathways to safety and security, showed seamless integration of house typologies and densities within existing neighbourhoods, and examples of brilliant additions to the urban landscape were all recognised.”

Mr Rohl said new benchmarks have been set for developers to consider how they can create a distinct sense of place for new communities during the  planning and designing phases.

“A big congratulations to Bubbl Up for ENVI Micro Urban Village which took out the Affordable Small Scale Award for Excellence, Stockland for Oceanside which was awarded with the Master Planned Development Award for Excellence, and Mirvac and Halcyon for DVConnect Bridging Accommodation Project which took home the Wildcard.”

“It was an exciting year to be a judge, and I congratulate all nominees”.
