The York acknowledged for Construction Excellence

Alder Developments has been acknowledged at the 2021 UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence for its contribution to the collaboration with investLogan and Alder Constructions on Beenleigh’s seven-storey office tower, The York.

The Gold Coast development and construction company was a finalist in the Construction Excellence category which acknowledges a high standard of internal and external construction, innovation, project delivery, and sustainability.

Designed by local firm Conrad Gargett, the rare mixed-use project was delivered by Alder Developments in partnership with investLogan and was built by Alder Constructions.

Alder Constructions general manager Dean Cheffers said the project presented several challenges throughout the construction process which were not only overcome by his team but resulted in an exceptional outcome.

“Alder Constructions is honoured to be involved in the construction of The York – an exemplary project that marks the first major commercial office development in the area in more than a decade,” says Mr Cheffers.

“Our team worked closely with the development team at all stages of construction to ensure benchmark outcomes were achieved for all stakeholders and as a result, the sustainability and engineering elements of the project are best in class for the type and size of the build.

“It is a privilege to be involved in the delivery of such a monumental building for the Logan business community and an honour to be acknowledged as a finalist in this year’s UDIA awards.”

The $40 million business precinct offers a total of 4,660sqm of commercial space including four SoHo apartments, a ground floor retail space, and a dual-level underground car park.

investLogan Chair Steve Greenwood said the team behind The York was thrilled to see the development standing tall along the Beenleigh streetscape and taking out this prestigious industry recognition.

“The vision behind The York was to deliver a premium workspace and we’ve been extremely pleased with the incredible standard of design and craftmanship that has seen a design-led project delivered to the Logan community,” Mr Greenwood said.

“The York pays tribute to the rich history of the area and is already realising its purpose to bring local and national investment to our region.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support and involvement of all the project partners that have played a key role in this project.”

The project involved the construction team integrating with the local community by instigating a high percentage of local employment and engagement with Beenleigh State High School trade training students and local indigenous partnerships.

Alder Developments general manager Greg Tupicoff says the A-grade office tower has been instrumental in cementing Beenleigh as a key commercial hub for the district.

“It was a pleasure for Alder Developments to collaborate with investLogan to contribute to an iconic project like The York and to witness the significant social and economic benefits the project has delivered to the wider Logan community.

“I would like to thank investLogan for the opportunity to work on The York and UDIA for the opportunity to be acknowledged for our contribution to this important project.”

The York was completed in August 2021.
